A car show on Sept. 7 will benefit a local teen who was a victim of severe bullying.
Money raised at Trendway’s annual Cruise-In Benefit will help pay for the full-time residential treatment the girl received for depression. Her family’s insurance covered only a portion of her seven-month stay.
The 11th annual event will be 6-9 p.m. Sept. 7 at Trendway, 13467 Quincy St., in Holland Township. Entry costs $5 per vehicle.
The car show will feature street rod and custom vehicles, motorcycles, trucks and restored vehicles. More than 500 vehicles took part in last year’s Cruise-In, from antique fire engines to Smart Cars.
In addition to the vehicles on display, attendees can enjoy food, music, raffles and other entertainment.
The event raises funds for local families who must pay significant medical expenses. Last year’s event raised $30,000 for Nicole Crook, whose legs were paralyzed in a car crash in 2010.
This year’s event is co-sponsored by Boar’s Head and Thrivent Financial.
To date, the Cruise-In car shows have raised more than $195,000.
